It was a moment of celebration and joy on Tuesday, November 13th for Gbaramatu Publishing Company Limited, GPCL, publishers of the Gbaramatu Voice newspaper and operators of Gbaramatu Voice TV station.
The acclaimed Most Patronised Indigenous Media establishment in the Niger Delta region was honoured with an award by Ijaw Women Connect, IWC, a socio-cultural group.
IWC presented the award of ‘Most Outstanding Media of the Year 2018’ to the media establishment at the 2018 annual celebration of the group in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
According to the president of the group, Princess Rosemary Naingba Graham, the award was given to Gbaramatu Voice “for its straight forward, quality and outstanding reportage of news event and its determination to go where other organizations do not dare to go to obtain factual information.”
The program had many important personalities present giving their unreserved thought for the liberation of the Niger Delta. Some of whom are: Ms Annkio Briggs, Matron /BOT IWC Worldwide. Moderator; Comrade Alfred Kimipado Nimizigha, Secretary General Ijaw Youth Council (IYC); Ms Ibiba Don-Pedro, Niger Delta Rights Activist/Public Interest Journalist; Chairman of the occasion, Barrister Iniruo Wills, President Ijaw Professionals Association, IPA, Homeland Chapter and Triple Chief Vero Tangbowei Emmanuel JP, the Ibe-benemo Ere of Gbaranmatu Kingdom, amongst others.
