Oporoza, Delta State – In a bid to address the shortage of teachers in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, the Gbaramatu Youth Council (GYC), under the leadership of Mr. Kingsley Gbejule, on Tuesday, November 19, deployed the Batch A set of 65 newly recruited teachers to various schools in communities within the kingdom.
The recruitment process began last month with a comprehensive screening exercise conducted at the Egbema-Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation (EGCDF) to ensure that only qualified and competent individuals were selected. This initiative reflects GYC’s commitment to improving access to quality education by addressing staffing gaps in schools.
The newly recruited teachers were officially presented to the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oboro-Gbaraun II, Aketekpe, Agadagba, at his palace in Oporoza, for royal blessings and guidance.
In his address, His Royal Majesty highlighted the importance of their new roles and urged the teachers to take their responsibilities seriously. “Gaining employment in Gbaramatu is a big opportunity you shouldn’t joke with,” he said. The monarch encouraged them to give their best, remain disciplined, and respect the traditions and laws of the land.
Speaking at the event, Comrade Kingsley Egbejule, the President of GYC, highlighted the council’s dedication to improving education in the kingdom. He said: “Education remains the cornerstone of progress for any society. This initiative is our contribution to building a better future for Gbaramatu Kingdom. Through a transparent screening process, we ensured that only the best hands were selected to serve our communities. To the teachers, we trust you will carry out your responsibilities with commitment and integrity. You are not just teachers; you are builders of tomorrow. Make us proud.”
Following the ceremony, the teachers were dispatched to schools in Oporoza, Okerenkoko, Benikrukru, and Kokodiagbene—communities that have long struggled with a shortage of educators.
The event was attended by palace chiefs, community chairmen, and youth presidents, who commended GYC for its proactive steps in addressing educational challenges and pledged their support to ensure the success of the teachers in their respective assignments.
This deployment marks a significant milestone in the Gbaramatu Youth Council’s ongoing efforts to foster development and invest in the kingdom’s future through education.
