National Association of Gbaramatu Students, NAGS, at the weekend elected new executives to pilot the affairs of the Association in its 4th convention at Kurutie community, Gbaramatu kingdom.
The two days convention under the theme “Scholarship For Niger Deltans: A Veritable Tool For Regional Emancipation”, was held at the Nigerian Maritime University ceremonial pavilion, Kurutie take off campus.
Freeborn Abraye emerged the new president after an election process that was conducted by a five-man electoral body and led by its chairman, Mr. Diamond Fianka.
At the end of the elections contested by 16 aspirants into various offices, Comrade Freeborn Abraye emerged winner as president of the Association after polling 100 votes out of the 115 valid votes counted.
In his acceptance speech, Comrade Abraye promised to build upon the good work his predecessor has done.
He said he was poised in protecting and advocating the interest of members and promotion of academics excellence in NAGS.
With the help of his excos and other stakeholders, Comrade Abraye promised to take NAGS to greater heights.
Others elected are: Comrade Anita Popo, Vice president; Comrade Collins Oturubo, Secretary General; Comrade Doubra Febaide, Assistance Secretary General; Comrade Gift Ekpemupolo, PRO; Comrade Dora Edio, Financial Secretary; Comrade Juliet Seiyefa Bolei, Treasurer; Comrade Stella Oturubo, Social Director; Comrade Kester Ubebe, Sports Director and C omrade Brakemi Adagbabiri, Welfare Officer.
