Gbaramatu Kingdom Prepares for 28th Remembrance of Late Sgt. Oweiyegha Rowland Tonlagha

The Tonlagha family is set to honor the 28th remembrance of their late father, Sgt. Oweiyegha Rowland Imoun Tonlagha, with a series of memorial events scheduled for Friday, November 8, 2024. The commemoration will take place in Benikrukru town, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Delta State. The late Sgt. Tonlagha was the father of renowned Nigerian billionaire and Chairman/CEO of Maton Engineering Nigeria Limited, Mr. Matthew Tonlagha.

In a public invitation signed by Elder Emmanuel Tonlagha on behalf of the children, and Chief Paris Imoun and Hon. Shedrack Otuaro for the family, the Tonlaghas detailed the events planned to mark the anniversary.

The remembrance memorial service will commence at 8 a.m. and run until 4 p.m., followed by a “Night of Tributes” beginning at 8 p.m. and continuing until dawn. These events are expected to draw family members, friends, and well-wishers from across the region to honor the memory and legacy of the late patriarch.

Late Sgt. Oweiyegha Rowland Imoun Tonlagha was a distinguished figure who served Nigeria with dedication and honor during his lifetime. His contributions to the country and his community left a lasting impact that continues to be remembered.

Among his prominent children are Capt. Rowland Tonlagha; Capt. John Tonlagha, the Executive Commissioner for Health, Safety, Environment, and Community at the Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission (NURC); Engr. Michael Tonlagha; and Mr. Victor Tonlagha, along with other distinguished family members.

The 28th anniversary of late Sgt. Tonlagha’s passing is an opportunity for the family and community to reflect on his life of service to the nation and his commitment to the values he cherished. His legacy lives on through his children, who have continued to uphold the family’s principles and contribute significantly to various sectors in Nigeria.
