Former Commander of the Defunct Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) and Chairman of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Dreams of Niger Deltans (MADND), Mr. Josaih Oyakonghan, popularly known as General Oyimi, is set to honor his late mother with a grand burial ceremony in Ogbe-Ijoh town, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024, at the age of 93.
In a statement sent to GbaramatuVoice, Oyakongha expressed gratitude and acceptance of God’s will for his mother, Late Mama Esanteme-ere Oyakonghan (Nee-Izoukumor), who passed away peacefully. She is survived by children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous relatives.
The funeral arrangements include a social wake-keep at her son’s residence off Fani-Kayode Road, Warri, on Wednesday, February 28th, 2024, with music provided by Gen. Best May. On Saturday, March 2nd, the body will leave Ame Specialist Hospital Mortuary to Ogbe-Ijoh via NPA Miller Waterside on top of a barge, accompanied by music supplied by Boware M. Ebakumor, also known as Dumakalada.
The day’s events in Ogbe-Ijoh will commence with the lying in state at her residence at 8 am, followed by a social wake-keep and entertainment of guests at noon. The internment is scheduled for 5pm, with King Pereama Freetown, The Numu Pere 11 of Izon-Ebe, captivating guests throughout the day with his performances.
The ceremony promises to be a fitting tribute to Late Mama Esanteme-ere Oyakongha, celebrating her life and legacy in the Niger Delta region.
