The Federal Government has said that it will assess all projects in Niger Delta to determine the level of impact of its activities and programmes in the area.
The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, disclosed this in a statement by the Head of Press and Public Relations of the ministry, Deworitshe Patricia.
It was gathered that the minister stated this when members of the Youth for Peace and Development in the Niger Delta paid him a courtesy call in Abuja, adding that he would visit every state in the region and report his findings to President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to the statement, “The minister said the Federal Government had plans to carry out a situation analysis of the projects executed in Niger Delta.
“According to the minister, a critical assessment of the situation in the region will enable the government to assess the impact of its activities and programmes in the region to formulate new policy programmes in the drive to effectively address the challenges in the region.
“The minister promised to visit each state in the region to assess the immediate situation on the ground and report to the President.
“He also promised that everything would be put in place to ensure that the President inaugurates at least one key project in each state of the region in the next 24 months.”
