The Ijaw nation and the entire people of Gbaramatu Kingdom, in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State have continued to pay endless tributes to late. Chief Thomas Osen Ekpemupolo, as he goes home today.
It would be recalled that since the death of Tompolo’s father on September 7th 2016, due to alleged military torture meted out on the octogenarian father of the ex militant leader, Tompolo, during the May 28th invasion of the Kingdom, prominent Niger Deltans have continued to pay tributes to the Ekpemupolo family.
Former managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Pastor P. Z Aginighan noted that the death of late. Thomas at the age of 84 calls for celebration but condemned the manner with which his life was painfully terminated by the military.
“My wife and I join the Ijaw Nation to commiserate with High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, other members of the Ekpemupolo family and the Gbaramatu Kingdom on the painful death of their patriarch Pa Chief Thomas Osen Ekpemupolo, the Tunteriwei of Gbaramatu Kingdom. Dying at the age of 84 provides a reason for celebration of life but the manner in which his life was terminated has further underscored the futility of the military option in addressing the Niger Delta question. Papa has paid the supreme price for socio-economic and environmental justice for the Ijaw in Nigeria. May God Almighty grant the entire Gbaramatu Kingdom and the Ijaw Nation the comfort of the Holy Spirit in Jesus Name.” Pastor Aginighan.
Gbaramatu Voice Newspaper gathered that a large and heavily decorated barge will be used to convey the remains of the Tunteriwei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Ijaw musicians will be thrilling the audience to Kurutie Community in the Kingdom.
