The story of the one-of-its-type wedding of Esther Odiki and Sir Victor Tonlagha will be on people’s lips for a long time to come.
Described by many as the biggest wedding show to happen in the South-South geopolitical region in recent times, the three day affair estimated to have gulped millions of naira, was a cynosure of all eyes.
Day one of the programme, which happened to be the traditional wedding rites, came up on Thursday, May 24th at the bride’s home situated in Ojugo Street by Okumagba Layout in Warri.
The general conviviality of the environment was further accentuated by the colourful traditional Niger Delta attires and ornaments that were on display.
Guests, mostly from Benikrukru (the grooms town) and Kunukunuma (the bride’s town) both in Gbaramatu Kingdom of Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, were treated to the best of hospitality by the parents of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Odiki with lots to eat, drink and merry with melodious music to spice it up.
The next stop was the church wedding which came up on Saturday, May 26.
Word of Salvation Bible Ministries International Incorporated situated on Jakpa Road, Warri, where the wedding was solemnised, was filled to capacity with the who-is-who in the society.
Again, the general atmosphere at the place was best described by the presence of high society players who trooped in to witness the epoch occasion.
Under the direction of the Presiding Minister, Bishop Samson Amajene, those in the large gathering were filled with anointing and blessings.
After the church programme guests converged at the highbrow, KFT Place which is situated along the NNPC Housing Complex Road, Ekpan.
On hand to show their happiness and support for the union were high networth individuals, political heavyweights, captains of industry, family members of the couple, business tycoons and the likes from all parts of the world.
Choice drinks, delicious meals, comedy and good music were made available for the guests.
On the bandstand were highly acclaimed music stars of Niger Delta extraction like Timi Dakolo, Barrister Smooth, Alfred Izonebi and Isaba Abraham who one after the other mounted the stage to render sonorous music to the delight of the guests.
On Sunday, May 27, the new couple had a thanksgiving service which was equally well attended.
