…Says; “stop sidelining us”
…Threatens to expose conditions to whole world
An Ijaw socio-cultural platform, Ajakuramavoice, has called on the Edo state government and other government agencies like NPDC, NDDC to stop neglecting the Ijaws resident in the state, in the scheme of things.
Apart from the state government, a statement signed and released by the President of Ajakuramavoice, Mingo F. A. Satan, also mentioned the names of some top politicians from the area, who have put his people in the precarious situation they are in, at the moment.
The statement reads; “Sen. Aisagbonriodion Mathew Urhoghide representing Edo South Senatorial district, Barr. Hon. Omosede Igbinedion Gabriella, the House of Representative member representing Ovia South West and Ovia North East LGA. Hon. Godwin Adenomo Gbemudia, the House of Assembly member representing Ovia South West LGA, the council chairmen of Ovia South West, Ovia North East and Ikpoba Okha LGA and various agencies NPDC and NDDC have sidelined ijaw kingdom in terms of development.
“This is in spite of the numerous projects from the federal level to Edo state, especially, constituency projects, state projects and different agency and companies operating in ijaw kingdoms.
“Despite all these, the ijaw kingdom have being abandoned in Edo state.
“Ijaw kingdoms, though situated in the riverine areas in Edo state are landed kingdoms. We don’t need bridges to cross our kingdoms.
“So, why boycott Ijaw kingdom when it is time to benefit?
“All the lawmakers, past and present, including Governors have sidelined Ijaw kingdoms but we have the oil base in Edo state and have equal rights with other kingdoms, so why boycott ijaw kingdoms?
“Ijaw youths have being handicapped for years in Edo state. We stand on our recent dialogue between the governor and the ijaw elders.
“If this injustice will not stop, the whole world will hear us one day.
“So, Ajakuramavoice calls on the federal and state governments to develop Ijaw kingdoms in the state. Our young graduates and those that seeking for admissions into higher institutions, have always found it difficult to have jobs and attend universities.
“Injustice is violence against man. We are being enslaved politically, educationally and economically, but yet, we are still law abiding citizens of Nigeria.
“However, we have being pushed to the wall and the wall is hot. We want to forge ahead. Ijaws don’t have accessible roads to their kingdoms, no electricity, no social amenities in our kingdoms.
“Why are we being deprived of our rights in Edo state, in our God -given land?
” Enough is enough!”
