Edo Government Finally Resolves Induction of 128 AAU Medical Doctors

In a significant development, the Edo State Government has officially announced the induction of 128 new medical doctors from Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma. The highly anticipated event is scheduled for February 13, 2025. The announcement followed a crucial meeting in Abuja, attended by key stakeholders, including Dr. Fatima Kyari, Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, Edo State’s Commissioner for Education, and Prof. Samuel Olowo, Vice-Chancellor of AAU.

This resolution comes after months of uncertainty for the graduates, who had been eagerly awaiting the formal induction.

Dr. Iyamu expressed his gratitude to Dr. Kyari for her instrumental role in facilitating the timely induction process. He further reassured the graduates of the unwavering support of the state government, particularly emphasizing the commitment of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, to their welfare and career advancement.

The induction resolves a long-standing issue for the graduates, who had been waiting since their graduation in August of the previous year.

The delay had caused widespread frustration, culminating in a protest on January 9 when students blocked the Benin-Ekpoma road, demanding swift action on their induction.

The Abuja meeting also featured the participation of Prof. Sunday Olowo Samuel, Vice-Chancellor of AAU, who highlighted the university’s commitment to addressing the concerns of its graduates and ensuring their smooth transition into the medical profession.

This induction is a pivotal moment for the 128 new medical doctors, marking the official beginning of their careers in the healthcare sector. With the event now confirmed, these newly inducted professionals will soon contribute to improving healthcare across Edo State and beyond.
