The controversy surrounding exclusion of Kunukunuma community, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, by NPDC as host community, OML 42, took another dimension, Friday, as neighboring community, Odidi affirmed Kunukunuma as non-host community, OML 42, stressing that Kunukunuma has no stake in the said oil field from time immemorial.

A statement signed by Secretary, Odidi Federated Community, Ebitobo Youkore, obtained by journalists on Friday in Warri, entitled: “TOTAL REJECTION OF KUNUKUNUMA PROTEST IN ODIDI FIELD, OML 42” said host community right was through land acquisition document, signing of wellheads, manifolds and station facilities sited in the field, which Kunukunuma community does not have.

The statement recalled that when SPDC called all host communities in OML42 field, inorder to handover the field to NPDC, Kunukunuma community was not called by SPDC, therefore wondered where and when Kunukunuma community got her ownership status.

Youkore therefore urged Kunukunuma community to write a formal letter to SPDC to restore her host community status, which SPDC in return would write to NPDC, Odidi community and other concerned communities for her inclusion rather than embarking on a protest that could result in break down of law and order.

Youkore further advised Kunukunuma community to carry out any protest at NPDC Head Office, Benin and not Odidi field or DBS to avert counter confrontation by concerned communities

Recall, Kunukunuma community had fixed March 10th to shut down Odidi flowstation over her exclusion as host community , OML 42 by NPDC, which was suspended through the intervention of Pere of Gbaramatu kingdom.

Meanwhile, Kunukunuma community today carried out a peaceful demonstration on the alleged exclusion as host community to NPDC OML 42 calling on the Delta State Government to intervene to avoid break down of law and order.
