•GbaramatuVoice has become the voice of the voiceless in Ijaw Land -Ijaw Leader
A renowned Ijaw socio-cultural organization, Proudly Ijaw Indigenes of Nigeria (PIIN) has released the names of the Executive Governor of Bayelsa state, His Excellency, Henry Seriake Dickson; his Rivers State counterpart, His Excellency, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and Niger Delta most read Newspaper ‘GbaramatuVoice’ among others that will on Friday 22nd December, 2017 receive the 2017 Ijaw National Merit Award (INMA).
This was contained in a recent release signed Mr. Tam-Okumbiri MMD, the President of the socio-cultural organization and made available to newsmen in Yenagoa.
Other recipients according to the release include but not limited to; the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Barrister Kingsley Burutu Otuaro; his Bayelsa State counterpart, Rear Admiral John Jonah; the leader of the Ijaw nation, Chief Edwin Clark; HRM King Ateke Michael Tom, Sekuro 1, the Amayanabor of Okochiri Kingdom; Senator James Manager, some selected Ijaw traditional rulers and the Ijaw Ladies Association among others.
Further details according to the release stated that the programme is billed for 10am at the Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha Memorial Banquet Hall, Bayelsa State Government House, Yenagoa, Bayelsa state.
Tams-Okumbiri MMD further explained that the Executive Governor of Bayelsa state, His Excellency, Henry Dickson will receive the Ijaw Man of the Year Award while the GbaramatuVoice Newspaper will receive the Ijaw Outstanding Newspaper of the Year Award. The Ijaw Ladies Association on the other hand will receive the Ijaw Association of the Year Award.
The release further explained that the rest will receive distinguished awards in different categories.
Reacting to this announcement, a leader in Ijaw land, Chief Wellington Bobo stated that the newspaper deserves the award as it has become the true voice of the voiceless and the true face of the Ijaw people.
It could be recalled that the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of GbaramatuVoice, Mr. Jacob Abai was recently honoured in Warri, Delta State by Ijaw Pastors & Ministers Fellowship (IPMF) for his relentless selfless service to humanity.
