DESOPADEC cares for flood victims

The Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission  (DESOPADEC) on Wednesday, October 16 distributed relief materials to flood victims at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in Patani, Patani Local Government Area of Delta State.

Mr. John Anegba, Personal Assistant (PA) to the commissioner representing Ijaw Ethnic Nationality, Dr. Paul Bebenimbo, who led the team, distributed the items to the victims.

Items distributed included bags of rice, beans, garri, salt and detergents as well as pad, wiper, pampers, mattresses, blankets, mosquito nets and assorted drugs.

The distributor said the items worth millions of Naira. However,  buckets, pillowcases, bed-sheets, groundnut oil, palm oil, Indomie, beans, maggi, bathing soap were among the items.

While addressing the press, Mr. John disclosed that the commissioner would have been present to distribute the items but had other pressing engagement. Against this backdrop, he was sent along other delegates to ensure that the IDPs get the materials.

He further said that DESOPADEC came to assist the people with provisions in order to alleviate their suffering.

Present at the event were Engr. Felix Oyazimor, Technical Assistant to the Executive Director, Planing, Research and Statistics; Comr. Shadrack Agidiga. 

According to them, the Commissioner and the Executive Director were working hand-in-hand to ensure that IDPs in the area were catered for.
