Saturday, March 2nd, marked a historic moment as the Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF) honored High Chief Government Ekpomupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, with induction into the esteemed Niger Delta Media Hall of Fame. The prestigious ceremony took place at Oporoza, the traditional Headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri Southwest Local Government Area of Delta State.
Chairman of DOPF, Mr. Emmanuel Enebeli, ANIPR, highlighted that Tompolo’s induction was a result of overwhelming votes from the Niger Delta community in an extensive online poll conducted over four months, from June 2021 to October 2021.
He emphasized Tompolo’s exceptional contributions to the region’s struggle for liberation from economic and environmental degradation, political marginalization, and social stagnation.
The official induction and presentation were conducted by Chief Omafume Amurun, Chairman of DOPF’s Board of Trustees (BoT).
In his gratitude, Tompolo expressed appreciation for the recognition and called on fellow Nigerians to unite in moving the country forward.
He stressed the importance of safeguarding government properties and facilities and urged collective efforts towards national development.
Tompolo reiterated his commitment to Nigeria’s progress, emphasizing the need for unity and concerted action to overcome economic challenges and ensure the nation’s prosperity.
He urged citizens to reject acts of sabotage and work together towards a brighter future for all.
According to Ekpomupolo, “I don’t have any other place except Nigeria. Nigeria is the only country I have so we must all join hands to protect and move Nigeria forward.
“Our economy is in dire need of survival so we can not fold our hands and allow some persons to sabotage the nation’s economy because of greed.
