DELTA: INSIDE EGBEMA SCHOOLS WHERE STUDENTS LEARN IN POOR CONDITIONS
GbaramatuVoice recently visited Egbema kingdom in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta state, on a fact finding mission. Some of the communities visited include: Opuama, Polobubo, Ogbudugbudu, and Ogbinbiri communities.
Below are the pictures of Oloduwa Primary and Secondary Schools in Opuama community. The disturbing pictures show the visibly distressed structures with falling ceilings and windows. They are not only deplorable but dehumanizing and in bad light.
In our objective view, the ugly situation in Egbema Kingdom is in gross contravention of international demands of good governance and public office stipulations.
In view of the above concerns, GbaramatuVoice calls on the Chairman of Warri North Local Government Council, Hon. Smart Asekutu and the Governor of Delta state, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, to remember that this is their constitutional responsibilities. To allow this situation to continue is a gross failure on their parts and the deplorable state of the schools will remain an emblem of a failed government and will continue to hurt their consciences.
We therefore call on you to make an urgent visit to these schools as well as take practical steps to transform them into a 21st century learning environment.
More pictures taken during the fact finding mission shall be made available shortly. Keep a date!
