Delta Govt Urged To Intervene In IRDC’s Leadership Tussle

The people of Ogbinbiri and Ogbudugbudu community of Dibi field, Warri North Local Government Area, Delta State,  have appealed to the state government to prevail on the leadership of the Ijaw Regional Development Council,  IRDC to allow equity in the chairmanship position of the body.

The people, in a statement by their chairman, Mr Ebi Eyenmi, said: “It is in the interest of fairness, equity and justice, Dibi blocs of communities or Ogbudugbudu/Adagbarasa blocs of communities should be given the opportunity to produce the next Chairman of the IRDC as that will further strengthen the bond of unity that has existed in Egbema Kingdom.”

Appealing to the traditional ruler of Egbema Kingdom, HRM Bini-Pere III, to ensure that equity prevails, they also called on the leadership of IRDC not to short change them.

They urged the leaders to put on hold the proposed inauguration of leaders of IRDC, as that would further give them a sense of belonging.
