Ahead of the general elections, Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), Delta state, has endorsed the speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, for governor of Delta State come 2023.
The group disclosed this in a statement issued to GbaramatuVoice saying that the experienced lawmaker has everything it takes to navigate the political ship of Delta State.

According to the statement, which was jointly signed by Hon. Chief Efe Tobor, the Chairman of the group, Hon. Annabel Cosmas, the Secretary, Prince Henry Eze, Spokesman and Onome Paul, the Organising Secretary stated that Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has met the benchmark of the coalition describing him as “a man of destiny”.
He said: “Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has shown more than a passing interest in running for the position of Governor of Delta State come 2023. He had carried out a critical self-examination and considered himself prepared and qualified for the plum job of governor. This suave, urbane and focused politician has a lot of attributes going for him and which will definitely sell him to the rest of Deltans ahead of the 2023 Governorship Primaries.”
The group further stated that the Speaker is a team player and a seasoned administrator adding that the speaker has established a cordial relationship with the executive arm of government.
The statement added: “One of the many positive attributes of Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori is that, besides being an accomplished administrator, he is also exemplary team player who effortlessly synergizes with others to reach his defined goals. In the House of Assembly over which he presides, he has always carried his colleagues along in an amazing and commendable fashion such that the Delta State House of Assembly hitherto noted for its high turnover rate of Speakers has now finally settled down for one that can be trusted and entrusted with the collective will and resolve of the Delta State House of Assembly.
“Besides the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Oborevwori has established an excellent working relationship with the Executive arm of Government without compromising the integrity and independence of the legislative arm. This harmonious relationship between the Executive and the legislature under the watch of Rt Hon Oborevwori has contributed in no small measure to the realization of the SMART Agenda of Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa’s Administration. Deltans irrespective of their Political persuasions and creeds will not forget the contributions of Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori who the National Deputy Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria to the peace and stability of Delta State is also.”
The coalition also talked about the excellent working relationship RT. HON. Oborevwori has with the party leaders. Elders and royal fathers in the state as well as the bills that have been sponsored by the speaker in the past. Some of the bills include: Delta State Property Protection Bill, 2016, Delta State Illegal/Unauthorized Collection of Levies (Prohibition) Bill, 2016, Delta State Statistics Bill, 2016 among others.
The group describes the lawmaker as a grassroot politician who has the wherewithal to lead the state come 2023.
