No matter how developed a given state might be, remote areas won’t be in dearth. Such areas would be very difficult to access, occasioned by lack of access roads. An example of such areas is the riverine communities in Warri South West, Burutu, Warri North and Bomadi Local Government Areas of Delta State.
These areas are primarily surrounded by water, making them rough terrains with inaccessible routes, except with alternative to road transportation.
As Delta state observes the 14-Days total lockdown of the State, it is essential the authorities understand that there are several instances globally, where people had to ditch the traditional ambulances and take the aid of aerial ambulances or ambulance boats. For areas that have substantial water bodies, the most efficient option in cases like these is that of ambulance boats.
We therefore call on the Delta State Government to urgently provide an urgent ambulance boats to riverine dwellers to assist them contain the Coronavirus pandemic incase of any emergency.
