Following measures taken by the Ebonyi state government to curtail the spread of coronavirus, Ebonyi state Police Command yesterday has admitted that there has been an increase in crime in the state as a result of the lockdown and banning of commercial motorcycle in the state.
Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Loveth Odah made this known while briefing journalists, noting that they have beefed up security around the state, assuring on their preparedness to protect and arrest anyone found terrorizing the people.
“We received report of a stolen pot of soup and Jollof rice. A woman was cooking and went inside to take something and on coming out, her pot of soup was stolen and this shows that there is hunger in the land. People in Ebonyi don’t believe COVID-19 is real and some residents in the rural areas are even celebrating it”.
