The Chairman and Managing Director of Chevron Nigeria/Mid-Africa Business Unit, Jeff Ewing was on Tuesday awarded the 2018 PETAN Leadership Award at the ongoing Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston Texas, USA.
According to a release made available to GbaramatuVoice, earlier today by Esimaje Brikinn, the company’s General Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs, Ewiñg, received the award at the Oil and Gas Industry Dinner and Award event, organized by Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN); an association of oil and gas industry services providers in Nigeria; as part of activities marking this year’s OTC which holds from April 30 to May 3, 2018.
According to PETAN, the award was in recognition of Jeff’s leadership and professional excellence in helping to drive the development of Local Content in the Nigerian Oil and Gas industry.
Speaking while receiving the award, Jeff thanked PETAN for the recognition, adding that “the award reflects the industry’s recognition of the outstanding Chevron Way values, which represent who we are and the way we do business”.
He further affirmed that Chevron companies in Nigeria support Nigerian Content Development, not out of a need for compliance to an act, but as “part of our business values”.
The award is the high point of PETAN’s activities at OTC, which was attended by many Nigerian based companies including IOCs.
The GMD of NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru, gave the opening remarks, in which he highlighted the Nigerian Government’s efforts at reforming the oil and gas industry and making it globally competitive, through policy and legislative reforms.
The awardee also highlighted CNL’s over 90% reduction in gas flaring over the last 10 years as an outstanding effort at gas commercialization, flares out, and an example of what the industry is doing to monetize flared gas in Nigeria.
