The youths of Warri Escravos and Forcados in Warri South West Local Government Area and Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State respectively, have expressed their displeasure to draw the attention of the Federal and Delta State Governments, the Inspector General of Police, the general public, as well as the international community to the illicit and oppressive activities of Ocean Marine Solutions Limited (OMS), which may cause chaos in the creek of Niger Delta if its Chairman/CEO, Captain Hosa Okunbor, is not called to order.
A press statement made available to the press by the Leadership of the Central Youth Body, which was jointly signed by the opinion Leader, Hon. Bullet Otuaro; and other Youth Leaders in the Central Youth Body, Comrade Mandela Zion Bomini; Gbisibi Nelson Andrew; Comrade Pondy S. Ebipadewei; Ogbona Bibo; Comrade Imoun M. Emomotimi; Benard P. Okirika; Akin Edisemi Disi; Ebikeme David; and Izoukumor Newton.
The youths called on the Federal Government and the Inspector General of Police to give immediate directive to Ocean Marine Solutions Limited Company to stop trading on their job slots with aliens.
The Central Youth Body and the sub communities leadership also appealed to the Inspector General of Police to carry out thorough investigation and order the management of Ocean Marine Solutions Limited to accept and encourage the peace processes they initiated to engage the company several times for them to do the needful in order to avert youth restiveness in their jurisdiction.
According to the statement, “the Chairman/CEO of Ocean Marine Solutions Limited, Captain Hosa Okunbor, whose company is given the contract for the engagement of surveillance guards along Pipeline Right of Way (PRoW) has been sidelining the peace loving youths of Warri Escravos and Forcados (Burutu), to only engage aliens for the pipeline surveillance to the detriment of the Central Youth Body and the leadership of the Communities within this jurisdiction. Captain Hosa Okunbor carries his dubious activities through OMS project-lead, Mr. Olabode Isijola against the peaceful youths of Warri Escravos and Focasdos (Burutu) region.
“It may interest the general public to note that the Central Youth Body in Warri South West and Forcados (Burutu) jurisdiction, which responsibility is to employ peaceful and legitimate means to seek and monitor employments with other benefits that empower and positively transform the lives of youths from designated authorities had severally engaged the Chairman/CEO of Ocean Marine Solutions Limited through the Inspector General of Police and other media, for Captain Hosa Okunbor and co to recognize the Central Youth Body and work with us harmoniously, in accordance with the scope of the pipeline security jobs in Warri/Escravos and Forcados (Burutu) region. But Captain Hosa Okunbor and his team turned deaf ears to our peaceful approach to this issue.”
The youths also accused Captain Hosa Okunbor and his team on their failure to mention the name of the Youth Body they are working with after dening of recognizing them as the legitimate Central Youth Body in the letter the Company wrote to the Inspector General of Police through the Company’s Project-lead, Olabode Isijola on March 4, 2020, in reply to their letters to the Inspector General of Police dated 20th and 26th February, 2020.
“We, the Central Youth Body of Warri Escravos and Forcados (Burutu) Jurisdiction, acting on behalf of Youths in the Warri South West LGA and Burutu LGA respectively, want you to note that we have Traditional Councill, Community Development Association and Youth Body/Leadership of each host community. It’s therefore imperative for the Chairman/CEO of Ocean Marine Solutions Limited to carry the Youths along in the Warri-Escravos and Forcados (Burutu) pipeline surveillance”, the statement read.
They stated further that they deemed it necessary to make this publication in the spirit of peace and love to President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government, the Inspector General of Police, the Government of Delta State, the international community, as well as peace loving Nigerians to prevail on the Chairman/CEO of Ocean Marine Solutions Limited, Captain Hosa OKunbor, to recognize the Central Youth Body and work with them to employ the Youths of Warri Escravos and Forcados (Burutu) jurisdiction for the pipeline surveillance guards along the PRoW.
“We wish to state unequivocally that the Chairman/CEO of Ocean Marine Solutions Limited, Captain Hosa Okunbor and his project-lead, Mr. Olabode Isijola are not Izon or Itsekiri men, neither do they have ideas on the creek of Warri Escravos and Forcados (Burutu) and the lifestyles of its people. Therefore, the Federal Government should revoke the Warri-Escravos and Trans-Forcados contract awarded to Ocean Marine Solutions Limited and re-award it to a capable indigenous company, which Chief Executive Officer understands the creek in Warri-Escravos and Forcados (Burutu) and will be willing to engage the Central Youth Body in the pipeline surveillance which will promote peace and unity amongst the youths for the benefit of Nigerians for Nigeria”, they stated.
