It was a gathering of who is who, at the venue of the Uvwie Kingdom 10th Coronation Anniversary of HRM, Emmanuel Ekemejewan Sideso, JP, OON, Abe 1, the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, on Saturday February 24, 2018 at the monarch’s palace located at the Government Reservation Area of Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta state.
Those in attendance includes His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, ably represented by the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu; Senator Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, the Executive Governor of Delta State; top class traditional rulers in the state that includes, HRM, Oboro Gbaraun II, Aketekpe Agadagba, the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom; His Royal Majesty Pere S.P.Luke, Kalanama V111, the Pere of Akugbene Mein Kingdom; HRM Joseph Timiyan, the Ebenanawei of Ogulagha Kingdom; HRM, Wilson Ojakovo Oghoghovwe, Oharisi III, the Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom; HRM Charles Ayemi Botu, the Pere of Seimbiri Kingdom; High class politicians like, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, former governor of Delta State, Captains of Industries and a host of other high flying personalities around the country.
Speaking at the event, the Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa described the peace existing in different parts of the state as a tonic for investors.
According to the Governor, “when the different kingdoms and local government areas are peaceful, I will have less need to hold security council meetings, and I can tell you that with the peace that exists in all parts of Delta State, investors from different parts of the world are doing business in our state.”
“Your Royal Majesty, I am happy with what you are doing for peace to be sustained in Uvwie. This area is very attractive to investors; what we need is sustained peace. The area is developed in terms of infrastructure and natural resources,” he said.
The Governor continued, “We support investors to enable them carry on with their businesses because, there are multiplier benefits of having investors in different parts of the state.”
He congratulated the Ovie for his numerous achievements within his 10 year reign, observing that the floating of scholarship for his subjects, will ensure more enlightened individuals who will contribute meaningfully to the growth of the society.
The Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, on behalf of President Mohammadu Buhari, congratulated the Ovie and wished him more happy years on the throne.
Earlier, the Ovie thanked Governor Okowa for the numerous development projects his administration has executed in his kingdom, especially in the area of construction of roads and the completion of the palace.
The highlight of the event was the commissioning of the ultra-modern Palace of the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom by the traditional rulers present, ably led by the Pere of Gbaramatu.
The President General of the Uvwie Improvement Development Union, Chief Austine Ukuhwere , speaking on the 10th year coronation anniversary of the monarch, described Abe 1 as “God sent and a role model.”
He said, “Any king who reigns in Uvwie , usually does so from his personal compound, but today, HRM, Abe 1 has built a befitting palace for use of Uvwie monarchs, not as a personal property but for the Kings of Uvwie that will reign even after him. It is such a magnificent edifice befitting of his status as a King.”
Traditional rulers who were also present are; HRM. Oguruyeke Okirimini, the Pere of Tubutoru Kingdom; HRM Joel Ebani, Pere of Iduwini Kingdom, Bayelsa state; HRM, Barr. Peremobowei Shadrach Erebulu, Aduo III, Pere of Kabowei Kingdom; amongst others.
Other personalities in attendance include; Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori; former Deputy Governor of the state, Prof. Amos Utuama, among other eminent personalities, that graced the occasion.
