Indications have emerged that David Lyon, candidate of the the All Progressives Congress (APC), may have won the Bayelsa governorship election, defeating Douye Diri, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would make its final pronouncement on the election, indications were that Lyon had won six out of eight locals government areas in the state.
Our Situation Room gathered that the APC has polled 352,552, while PDP has 143, 170 votes, leaving a margin of 209, 382.
If Lyon was finally announced winner, it would be the first time an opposition party would win the state since the return of democracy in 1999, having been governed by the PDP.
