YENAGOA -The Caretaker Chairman of Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Hon. Bello Bina as part of events marking his birthday in Yenagoa, visited the Okaka Prison, Gloryland Orphanage home, Federal Medical Center (FMC), and the State Anti-Robbery Squad ( SARS) to donate gift items worth millions of Naira.
The Chairman, who worshiped with inmates at the Victory Chapel in Okaka Prison Yard, expressed that he decided to celebrate his birthday with them because they are special to him. He then urged all inmates to believe in God and be totally transformed to be better and productive citizens.
Pst. Precious Oti who ministered to the inmates joined the Chairman and others to cut the birthday cake. Thereupon, foodstuffs, toiletries and other gift items were given to the Prisoners, and also promised to provide a Mixer and an Amplifier for the Chapel.
The spokesman of the inmates thanked the Chairman for his kind gesture, and assured him of their positive transformation. According to him, “Please let the Governor know that even though some came here as thieves and bad guys, they will go out as kings and queens. You have really made us proud, and we wish you more blessings and elevation.”
Hon. Bina later visited the Gloryland Orphanage home and presented food and other essential items to the orphans. He stated that “It’s good to share with the needy. I firmly believe these children will grow to become leaders in the future; and i must thank the head of this orphanage home.”
The Representative of the Matron commended the chairman for deeming it necessary to celebrate his birthday with the orphans, and prayed God to strengthen and keep him in sound health.
During his visit to the Federal Medical Center, Yenagoa, the Chairman was taken round the various wards by the Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Akpedi Bernard, and the Head of Nursing, Matron Amachree Esther.
At the Children ward, Hon. Bina gave “huge envelops” to several critically indisposed children and also payed the hospital bills of a child that died few minutes before his arrival. The father of the deceased child, Mr. Akanusha Osmond, thanked the Chairman for not only reducing his pain but also removing shame from his face.
Thereafter, the Chairman commissioned a borehole project which he single-handedly sponsored at the SARS office at Road Safety Road, Yenagoa, and also distributed items to the inmates.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the State, Mr. Asinim Butswat, praised Hon. Bina for taking it upon himself to provide clean water for the inmates, as it has for long been a pressing need until the Chairman’s kindness.
Presenting his speech at Hon. Bina’s residence, the Caretaker Chairman of Yenagoa LGA, Hon. Oforji Oboku commended Hon. Bello for humbling himself to celebrate with the less-privileged in the society, and enjoined others to emulate him.
“It is indeed nice for Bello Bina to celebrate with the needy and the less-privileged. Other people should emulate Bello Bina for this singular gesture. I really thank everybody for coming to celebrate with Bello Bina,” he said.
The Representative of the Governor, and Caretaker Chairman of Sagbama LGA, Hon. Michael Magbisa, said it is a good thing to celebrate with the Council Chairman and to also see members of ALGON, expressing, it is an indication that ALGON is united. He reiterated that Hon. Bina is a man that wines and dines with prisoners and the needy in society.
Hon. Bina who gave his speech after cutting the birthday cake in the company of well-wishers, said it was God that impelled him to celebrate with prisoners, orphans and the sick in a special day like this, and also thanked everyone for coming out to celebrate with him.
