Comrade John Dekawei, the Chief Executive Officer of Toluware International Company Limited, an oil servicing and construction company based in Warri, Delta State, has charged the Face of Gbaramatu International Beauty contestants 2019 to act as good role models to young girls.
He made the charge when the Face of Gbaramatu International Beauty Pageant team led by the Creative Director, Ms Elizabeth Tonghan paid him a visit in Warri to brief him on the upcoming event.
Comrade Dekawei, who is also the President of Delta Ijaw Youth Movement for Political Advancement (DIYMPA), promised to support education of girls in the Niger Delta region as part of his Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
He expressed his belief that encouraging more girls to succeed at school would help to tackle many of the Niger Delta problems, including early child marriage.
“Child marriage and teenage pregnancies have become a major challenge in the riverine communities of Niger Delta.
Comrade Dekawei had called on the Face of Gbaramatu International contestants to be agents of change.
According to him, “As beautiful young women I urge you to go out there and be good role models to the young girls.
“Go out there and be advocates of girls’ education. Denounce and condemn all obstacles standing in the way of girls’ education.”
