Bayelsa State Government has said that the state has the highest number of abandoned Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, projects in the region.
To this end, the state government has inaugurated a 7-man committee to assess the level of completion of NDDC projects, as well as collate the number of abandoned ones in the state.
Inaugurating the NDDC, Project Verification Committee in Yenagoa, Governor Seriake Dickson charged the members to visit all communities and review the projects awarded by the commission from inception to date.
Dickson in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Francis Agbo, expressed displeasure over the manner the commission was executing projects in the state, which he noted has the highest number of NDDC abandoned projects in the Niger Delta region.
Condemning the politicization of the activities of NDDC, he called on the Federal Government to reverse the trend, as the commission was established to complement infrastructural development efforts of the states in the region.
