Vanguard’s Crude Oil Infrastructure Security Award 2023
On May 24th in Lagos, Tantita Security Services received Vanguard’s Crude Oil Infrastructure Security Award 2023, recognizing the company’s outstanding efforts in safeguarding national infrastructure and contributing to economic recovery. According to Vanguard, Tantita’s implementation of advanced security measures has drastically reduced oil theft and sabotage, ensuring better monitoring and control of oil and gas facilities. These efforts have led to a substantial increase in Nigeria’s oil production output, from a low of 900,000 barrels per day to an impressive 1.5 million barrels per day, significantly boosting the nation’s crude oil earnings.
Vanguard’s commendation letter stated: “You have demonstrated excellence by providing innovative security measures that have led to significant reduction in oil theft and sabotage of oil and gas assets… Apart from creating a safe environment for crude oil production and export, you have also created employment for the youths of the Niger Delta, thereby addressing one of the major triggers of youth restiveness in the region.”
Daily Independent Security Company Award 2023
In May 2023, Tantita Security Services was further recognized with the Daily Independent Security Company Award for 2023. The award ceremony, held at the Eko Signature Hotel, celebrated the company’s relentless efforts in combating oil theft. Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, representing Tompolo and Tantita’s management, accepted the award, reaffirming the company’s dedication to the ongoing battle against illegal oil bunkering.
New Telegraph Newspaper Awards 2024
Earlier in February 2024, Tantita was honored as the best private security outfit in Nigeria at the New Telegraph Newspaper Awards. This recognition was based on the company’s superior performance compared to other nominees, highlighting its significant impact in the security sector.
Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE) Awards 2023
In June 2023, Tantita received the “Most Outstanding Oil and Gas Security Company of the Year” award at the FUPRE awards, powered by the African Child Foundation. This accolade was a testament to Tantita’s record-breaking achievements in curbing oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta.
Responding shortly after being presented the award, Managing Director of Tantita, High Chief (Engr.) Kestin Ebimorbowei Pondi, said the recognition would not have been possible without a committed workforce.

Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Internal Security Meritorious Award 2024
In March 2024, the NUJ honored Tompolo and Tantita Security Services with the Internal Security Meritorious Award for their pivotal role in combating crude oil theft. NUJ National President Chief Chris Isiguzo commended Tantita for its collaboration with the Navy, Police, NSCDC, and other agencies in apprehending vessels involved in oil theft. Isiguzo emphasized Tompolo and his firm’s significant contribution to the anti-theft campaign.
Isiguzo led the NUJ’s national leadership in presenting the award to Tompolo in Oporoza, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Delta State. He remarked that Tompolo’s patriotic endeavors had been crucial for the nation, preventing potential crises.
Isiguzo highlighted that this award marked a historic moment for the NUJ, being the first time the union bestowed the Internal Security Meritorious Award. He clarified that this singular award, endorsed during the National Security Conference in Abuja, was conferred exclusively upon Tompolo.
He expressed, “Someone has stepped up and rallied a group of young men dedicated to assisting our nation in maintaining peace, unity, and safeguarding its people.”
Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF) Hall of Fame Induction
In March 2024, the Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF) inducted High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, into the DOPF Niger Delta Hall of Fame. Chairman of DOPF, Mr. Emmanuel Enebeli, speaking on the induction, noted that Ekpemupolo’s selection for this prestigious honor was based on his uncommon struggles and determination towards the liberation of the Niger Delta region from economic and environmental degradation, political and social marginalization, and stagnation.
Impact on National Oil Production
The efforts of Tantita Security Services have been instrumental in boosting Nigeria’s crude oil production. Data from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) revealed that in the first four months of 2024, Nigeria’s crude oil production surged to 159,158,191 barrels. This marked a significant increase compared to the same period in previous years. January recorded 44.2 million barrels, with an average daily output of 1.42 million barrels per day (mbpd). February saw 38.3 million barrels produced at an average of 1.32 mbpd. March had 38.1 million barrels at 1.23 mbpd, and April produced 38.4 million barrels at 1.28 mbpd.
This total production for the initial four months of 2024 showed an increase of 14.3 million barrels compared to 2023, underscoring the effectiveness of Tantita’s security measures.
