In his words, “Gbaraun, in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, is one of the dispersal center, and we are a generation of those who remained; we were able to generate another kingdom even when the place has been abandoned, and the kingdom wants to have a king.
“The king we want to coronate is a first class king in the southern region. The date has been slated. The 21 days traditional event will take place, traditional rites and several ceremonies which you understand more than me. The day the governor will give him the Staff of Office, is slated for the 30th of August.
“Tradition demands that it is imperative of the people of Gbaraun Kingdom to tell all Gbaraun Oporoza descendants, wherever they are. And so, we started by visiting the Agadagba of Gbaramatu Kingdom, to be there and to give us his royal blessings and he did.
“The delegation left for Arogbo in Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo state; we met the Agadagba, Egbunu Doubra and told him, and he gave his blessings and said he can’t wait to be present at the ceremony.
“By tradition and hierarchy, the next place is Effurun, and we are here to tell you that come 30th of August, will be the day the Staff of Office will be given. We want you to attend that coronation ceremony.
“When you bless us, we know it will be a success. If your presence is felt, our people will continue this tradition.”
Responding, High Chief (Dr.) Ambrose Olughor (JP), the Unuevworo of Uvwie Kingdom, said they were glad to receive the invitation and would convey it to the Ovie and certainly a high powered delegation would be there.
