The Association of Nigeria Refineries Petroleum Marketers (ANRPM) on Friday inaugurated the newly appointed chairmen for Delta, Enugu, Anambra, and Ebonyi states to oversee the union’s activities in accordance with the stipulated laws.
The inauguration ceremony was held at Ofimarks Hotel, Asaba, the Delta State capital, with a charge to the new chairmen to improve petroleum product distribution and regulatory compliance.
Addressing the newly appointed chairmen, the Honourable Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Hon. Chief Peter Uviejitobor, represented by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mr. Frank Omoko, pledged the state’s support for the group as long as their activities align with improving petroleum product regulation and distribution.
He stated: “I want to inform you that the state is ready to work with you, and any group that wants to enhance our petroleum products and regulations will be supported by the government.”
He further added: “So long as there is peace in the land, production will increase, and I trust that this body will ensure proper checks and balances in petroleum product marketing processes.”
While advising the group to remain vigilant in identifying and addressing leakages, he noted that any lapses could negatively affect the petroleum industry and the national economy. He commended the National Coordinator for hosting the inauguration program.
Also speaking, the Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics at the Delta State Ministry of Oil and Gas, Mrs. Patricia Iniovosa, urged the new chairmen to familiarize themselves with the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) for a deeper understanding of the industry’s workings.
The newly inaugurated state chairmen include Comrade Obiri Disemi Bendel for Delta State, Chief Dr. Francis Uzona Okolie for Enugu State, Hon. Elder Ugochukwu S. Ugwoeje for Anambra State, and Hon. Chief Nwangwu Jude C. for Ebonyi State.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of the new chairmen, Comrade Obiri Disemi Bendel expressed gratitude to the association for entrusting them with the responsibility of contributing to the growth of the petroleum industry and Nigeria’s economy.
He said: “I am here to say a very big thank you to ANRPM for finding my co-travelers and me worthy to champion the course of salvaging our petroleum industry and adding to the growth of the Nigerian economy.”
“We sincerely appreciate this clarion call to serve our country at this time. All hands must be on deck to emancipate her from economic stagnation. Our commitment is total and unalloyed as we embark on this voyage with strict compliance and without compromise,” he added.
