Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu has congratulated Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa on his Tribune Platinum Award as Nigeria’s Torchbearer in Infrastructure and Environmental Development.
Aniagwu told journalists at the sidelines of the event organised by African Newspapers of Nigeria Plc, publishers of Tribune titles, to mark the 70th anniversary of the newspaper in Lagos.
He noted that the award was further confirmation of the massive infrastructural upgrades going on in the state which had characterised the Ifeanyi Okowa administration since 2015.
“On behalf of the management and staff of the Ministry of Information, I congratulate our amiable Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, on his conferment with the prestigious Tribune Platinum Award as Nigeria’s Torchbearer in Infrastructure and Environmental Development.
“This award no doubt is a testimony of our governor’s strong conviction and commitment to the development of Delta State.
“Our Governor’s strong determination to make healthcare accessible and affordable to Deltans and Nigerians buoyed him to champion the passing of the National Health Act and the establishment of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission which has so far, grossed over 670,000 enrollees.
“In terms of road construction and rehabilitation within the last four years, he was able to execute over 450 road projects, comprising 1,269.42 kilometers of roads and 517.34 kilometers of drains.
“He built the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, which has been hosting many sports competitions across the continent and he has made stronger impact in the area of human capital development as embedded in his job creation strategies.
“In terms of keeping the environment friendly and habitable, the Okowa administration has constructed Asaba Storm Water Drainage Project as well as the new Central Secretariat Complex.
“We will continue to bank on the support and solidarity of our people to remain committed to the trajectory of development as exemplified in our stronger Delta vision.” he added
