Preparations have reached an advanced stage for the burial of Elder Gilbert Okafor Ibegbulem, father of Dr. Hilary Obioma Ibegbulem, former Principal Secretary to the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, in Ute-Okpu, Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to the burial programme released by the family, the ceremonies will begin on Monday, October 6, 2025, and continue through Sunday, October 12, 2025, featuring a series of events to honour the life and legacy of the late patriarch.
The first Service of Songs will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, True Vine Parish, located at No. 1 Nnakwe Street, Off Arch Angel Street, Behind Eagle Square, Off Okpanam Road, Capital Territory.
A second Service of Songs is scheduled for Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 28 Cemetery Street, Boji-Boji Owa, Ika North East LGA, Delta State.
The Funeral Service will take place on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Ute-Okpu Grammar School Compound, Ute-Okpu, Ika North East LGA, Delta State, followed immediately by a reception at the same venue.
The ceremonies will conclude with an Outing Service on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at the Living Messiah Deliverance Mission Inc., 91 Osian Street, Boji-Boji Owa, Delta State.
The Ibegbulem family of Idumuezearja Quarter, Ute-Okpu Community, described Elder Gilbert Okafor Ibegbulem (1936–2025) as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and community leader who lived a life of humility, integrity, and service to God and humanity.
They noted that his values of hard work, faith, and compassion would remain an enduring legacy to all who knew him.
