Rivers State Governor Fubara Resumes Duty, to Address State by 6pm

The Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, has officially resumed duty at the Government House, Port Harcourt, following the expiration of the Emergency Rule imposed on the state by President Bola Tinubu on March 18.

Governor Fubara arrived at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, at 11:40 am on Friday in the company of his wife, Deputy Governor Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, Chief of Staff Edison Ehie, and other top government officials. He was warmly received by former commissioners, local government chairmen, and other political leaders of the state.

Upon arrival at the Government House, Governor Fubara expressed deep gratitude to the people of Rivers State for their unwavering support throughout the period of emergency rule.

“I know everybody wants to hear something from me. In fact, I expected it when I landed,” he said.
“Let me first of all appreciate the wonderful people of Rivers State. I am really humbled by what I saw at the airport. The reception shows love, confidence, and solidarity. It is not just a celebration; it is a reactivation of the bond between this government and the people of Rivers State.”

The governor assured that his administration remains committed to meeting the needs of the people and strengthening governance in the state. He is expected to address the state by 6 pm today.
