President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has successfully brokered a truce between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, bringing an end to the prolonged political crisis that has rocked Rivers State for several months.
The high-level reconciliation meeting was held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday, June 26, 2025.
According to reliable sources, the three key political figures agreed to put aside their differences and work together in the interest of peace, governance, and the people of Rivers State. President Tinubu, who presided over the meeting, emphasized the need for unity and urged all parties to prioritize development over personal or political disputes.
The crisis, which had created sharp divisions in the state’s leadership, stemmed from a bitter power struggle between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. The disagreement led to tensions within the State Assembly and rising public concern over the stability of the state.
While full details of the resolution remain undisclosed, it is understood that a peace framework has been established, with the Presidency expected to maintain oversight to ensure lasting cooperation among the parties involved.
This truce is seen as a major relief to the people of Rivers State and a significant political win for President Tinubu, who continues to position himself as a unifier and stabilizer within Nigeria’s political landscape.
