…as he picks expression of interest and nomination forms
By Abai Francis
Emomotimi Guwor, an aspirant for the Delta State House of Assembly seat on the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has assured his constituents that he would consult widely in his bid to secure the seat and to offer the people purposeful leadership and effective representation.
He made the promise at the PDP secretariat in Asaba where he had gone to collect the expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the party primaries coming up soon.
Mr. Guwor was accompanied by a large group of supporters including the Commissioner representing Ijaw Ethnic Nationality in the Board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Favour Izoukumor in a show of solidarity.
While in a chat with press men at the venue, Mr. Guwor, who expressed joy in being able to collect the expression of interest and nomination forms for the primaries, said he would consult widely in his bid to secure the House of Assembly seat and to offer the people purposeful leadership and effective representation.
“I just collected my Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for the Delta State House of Assembly in Warri South West constituency. My next step is to go out there and consult my constituency, most especially the delegates and by the grace of God victory is sure. You can see for yourself the teeming number of supporters in jubilation; chiefs, leaders of various capacities, and councilors.
“My message is that there is hope for the people of Warri South West; there is going to be purposeful and prosperous leadership. Definitely they will have the best representative they can ever think of in my person,” he added.
Meanwhile, another former contender for the House of Assembly, Chief Favour Izoukumor who spoke to GbaramatuVoice through his Personal Assistant, Comrade Jackson Timiyan, said the decision to support Guwor is based on the belief that he would make a good representation of the people of Warri South West.
“The commissioner is here with his teeming supporters to show solidarity. He doesn’t believe in himself alone. If he sees a like-minded person who has the people at heart and can deliver the dividends of democracy to the people, he steps down his own interest to support such a person and to ensure that person emerges.”
Speaking further, the Commissioner said, “what is expected of Guwor is for him not to let the people down but to ensure he does the right thing which is to attract development to the constituency; make laws that will better the people’s life; have constituency briefing to inform them on what is transpiring in the Assembly; in fact, the people should be the number one reason why he is there.”
While advising other DTHA aspirants in Warri South West constituency, he reiterated the need for brotherly love as politics should not be used as a tool to divide the people, but instead to unite the people towards a common cause.
