11 years After, Okomu Ijaws Gets New King

In a carnival-like event, the Ijaw speaking people of Okomu Kingdom in Ovia South-West Local Government Area of Edo State on Tuesday, 19th September 2017, crowned a new king.

Pius Yanbor, a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police was crowned the new Beri Apoi, Ogudumu, Oki, Kalasuo III, the Pere of Okomu kingdom after performing the traditional rites.

With coronation exercise, His Royal Highness, Pius Yanbor, becomes the third Traditional ruler in the kingdom.

GbaramatuVoice reliably gathered that the new monarch was enthroned after eleven years of the traditional stool have been vacant.

It was confirmed that, His Royal Highness was chosen in line with the traditional rites of the kingmakers in the kingdom.

In his post-coronation speech, the newly crowned monarch said that, he is very glad and honored to be the third traditional ruler of the kingdom which he said he did not dream of but God made it come to pass.

He then urged his subjects to see his enthronement as an opportunity to attract development to the kingdom.

HRH then charged them to cooperate and work tirelessly with him as he takes Okomu kingdom to the next level

The coronation ceremony was witnessed by a mammoth crowd among which were traditional rulers such as   HRM Oguruyeke, Okrimini 1, the Pere of Tubutoru Kingdom Ondo State; HRM Godwin Timighan, Alagbabunafa, the Pere of Olodiama Kingdom Edo State.

Others include but not limited to; Her Royal Highness Kalasuo of Apoi, the Regent of Apoi Kingdom Ondo State, in the company of her chiefs, Chief Robinson Ogunkoru and others from Olodiama kingdom, Double Chief Julius Ogoba; Chief Joseph Uduboh; Chief Hon Otegha Ayebi; Chief Monday Wilson; among others.
