IYC: Thank You, Gbaramatu Kingdom

Gbaramatu Kingdom recently affirmed its leadership role. This was in self-reliance.

The Kingdom organized one of the most peaceful and innovative elections in the history of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) since its inception.

Without a doubt, this act has stamped the Kingdom’s commitment to the ‘1998 Kaiama Declaration.’

Various quarters have commended the election as credible and well organized given conflicts that had plagued the performance of the Council for years.

No more factions. ‘IYC Congress Oporoza 2020’ without a doubt will go down memory lane as the last straw that broke the camel’s back.

The issues that held back our shared interest in fighting for a stronger and prosperous Ijaw Nation, have been laid to rest in Oporoza on Sunday, July 19, 2020.

It was a day worthy of commemoration sequel to emancipation walk of our great hero — Major Gen. Jasper Adaka Boro.

I wish to salute the moral will and courage of all the entire aspirants for sharing in the pursuit of a better Ijaw land.

I believe that the works we do, will not stop at the campaigns. To the winners, I say congratulations, for the mandate you have been entrusted with.

Let your actions/impact be good as the outcome of the election.

You should understand that IYC is not a political organization. It is the strength of the Ijaw nation.

It is the vehicle to a country which a people will be proud to call theirs. Innovation and deep consultations with key stakeholders/intellectuals are critical to achieving these underlying objectives of the organization.

Address the issue of social injustice and underdevelopment. Wage a good fight and bring our people hope and progress.

I wish to also use this medium to congratulate one of Gbaramatu finest, the youngest aspirant in the race for the IYC Secretariat, Comr. Godswill Doubra Wuruyai.

Comrade, I commend the audacity of your purpose and the clarity of the vision for the Ijaw Nation.
